UNION GAP, Wash.-- NBC Right Now is following up on the investigation into former Union Gap Mayor, Jim Lemon.
Last month, Lemon was barred from many city offices after an incident involving another city employee.
In the six page police report, an unnamed public works employee claims he and Lemon got into a heated argument about water meters. The city employee says when Lemon went to leave, he spun his tires and sprayed gravel, breaking the public works employees glasses and cutting him right above his eye.
We spoke to the former mayor at his home Tuesday, and he admits to getting into an argument with the man, but says the rest of his story just doesn't add up.
"I just think that the guy went out and made out an outright lie. I was told that his glasses were broken from a council member," Lemon said.
Union Gap's Interim Police Chief, Greg Cobb says he did find probable cause to charge Lemon for reckless driving. But in the report says he was concerned about a possible conflict if Lemon was cited in Union Gap's Municipal Court. So, Cobb decided to turn the case over to the Yakima County Prosecutor's Office for charging.
Prosecuting Attorney, Jim Hagarty would not return phone calls Tuesday on whether they have decided to charge Lemon with a crime.
