Sadly there is still a high amount of break-ins happening every day. Sometimes it?s hard to feel safe inside our own homes. You only need to turn on the news to see something terrible that?s happened. There?s absolutely no reason why you should feel this way.
The easiest way to stop anything bad from happening is to take measures to secure your home. Don?t even give someone the chance to take advantage of you. You may end up loosing more than your belongings. Here?s a nice list of security measures you can use to turn your home into a fortress.
Get an alarm system
Security systems can be expensive, but not an expensive as someone breaking in and stealing all your favorite gadgets. It acts as a great deterrent and the burglar will soon have new ideas when your alarm starts blasting in their ear.
A home that has a security system in place is a lot less likely to be broken into. It just means you can sleep a lot easier when you go to bed at night, knowing that nobody is downstairs eating all the food in your fridge.
Or a dog
And that doesn?t mean something like a poodle. A guard dog is like your own special security guard just waiting for someone to strike. And if anyone does manage to get inside they will probably jump right back out when they see it.
If you do go the way of the guard dog you have to make a decision whether it?s only the dog, of if you will also get a security system. It?s only because you will need to get one without motion detectors so the dog doesn?t set it off.
Improve your locks
The more secure your lock the harder it will be for someone to get in, unless they want to risk smashing the windows which wouldn?t be very smart. Make sure you use a big steel deadbolt lock and turn your door into an impenetrable structure.
You can also add a chain to your door so you can lock it from the inside when you go to sleep at night. Just remember to take it off before you try opening up the door in the morning. These are also good when you answer the door so you can see who is outside without fully opening it.
Motion detecting lighting
The quickest way to scare a burglar away is to give him a quick fright. If someone is coming up to your door at night the will quickly turn away if lights suddenly come on. They won?t want to do anything in the light where people could see them.
If any of your neighbors are looking out the window they will automatically be able to spot someone acting weird outside your house. You can also install a camera outside so people know their face has been recorded. Unless they think they are some sort of ninja it would be crazy for them to get caught on film.
