What Auto Is This? This Not-a-Monza Had A Blazing Name But ...

This ?Not-a-Monza was this car companies answer to the early 1970?s OPEC Oil Embargo. This sporty model was frugal but not very sporty. It?s special ?Disco Ball? graphics fit perfect with its very Huggy Bear velour interior. This special edition was only sold for two years 1979-1980.

?The engine of choice was the burly but rough Smogified 3.8 liter V6. Known as the ?Odd Firing??V6?it could trace its root back to the early 1960?s. Based on the much insulted Chevy Vega this car maker had a hard time convincing buyers to shell out premium Champagne bucks on a?Boones Farm?car. When ordered in this special edition you could only get three colors.

?Silver, red or white. Despite its Vega roots it proved to be a not to bad car. Room was plenty with the hatchback and you could get a 5 speed transmission to give you the sporty feel. It was replaced in 1980 by an even worse car. Hard to imagine?? Even with its flame like name this GM debacle would end up in the Ash Heap of American Automotive history. What Auto Is This?
