Apple iPhone sales dip as new product launch nears

Anticipation for the latest and greatest model of Apple Inc.?s popular iPhone has slowed sales on its existing products, Bloomberg reports.

Apple posted its slowest sales and profit growth in more than two years as sales of iPhones slid in the third quarter compared to prior periods.

A similar slowdown happened last year ahead of the release of the iPhone 4S as company profits fell short of analyst? estimates for the first time since 2003.

Apple hasn?t said when it will unveil a new iPhone, and has given no details about plans for the product. But industry sources say Apple is preparing to overhaul the look of the iPhone and has placed orders with suppliers for screens that are bigger than the phone?s current 3.5-inch screen.

Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has more than 350 retail stores worldwide, including two in San Antonio.
